It's been sooooo long!

I've been a meaning to blog, but my laptop died, my job got ridiculously busy, I got a dog and just plain procrastination. But I'm back! I've officially been locked for 14 months and wow, when I used to read other blogs and they were locked this long, I would say to myself, "will my hair ever get there?" And behold it did. I also used to say, "I want hair just like this one or that one", but my hair did its own thing and now I want locks just like mine, afterall, they are me, right? First of all I love my original loctician until I met the my new one, I never liked the front of my hair the locks didn't look even, nor was it parted correctly. My loctician charged $30.00 per hour and it took her 4 hours. Well, I met someone who had sisterlocks and advised that her loctician came to her house, so I called her up and the rest is lock history. First of all she she took out the front of my hair and made them all even and it only took her 3 hours at a savings of $45.00. Now she can retighten my hair in 2 hours, plus she colors my hair with a non ammonia color at doesn't damage my locks! She's the bomb. My hair is really growing and now I'm getting so many compliments, its like now folks are noticing that I have locks. I'll post some pics.

First re-tighten and other thoughts

Well I got first re-tighten on the April 1st. I did have some new growth and lets just say my head was a lil tender afterwards, reminded me of how I felt after braids. I was happy that she cleaned up the front a bit. My front is substantially shorter than the rest of my hair, plus it has the most perm and color so the texture is rougher, I'd say my hair is about 1.5 - 2" in the front and the rest between 7-8". I have had a few bouts of lock envy and have grown tired of the headband, but I know that this sister lock thing is a journey.

I saw someone's sister locks and they looked great and then I put my hands in my own, and was disheartned. Not to mention all of the grey hair that is showing up at the roots..yuck! My consultant said that I could use a semi-permanent color and my sister (she has traditional locks) suggested a shampoo with color in it.

I guess my locks are settling in and I've had no slippage or breakage what so ever, so that's good news. I'm posting some pictures, let me know what you think.

Pictures finally

Well, I got them and I just don't know....althought I read countless blogs about the itchy, dry scalp and the plucked chicken, I guess I was as prepared as I thought. I'm definately going to stick with it, I've paid way too much money to forgo them, it just that my sisterlocks look dry, and my semi-permed ends look frizzy and unkept. I finally decided to spray them with ACV and then spray rinse with water and braided them up so they looked better..well sort of. I just wished that my technician would have locked more of the ends, plus the front is shortest and had the most perm, so they really look crazy. I don't get my first re-tightening until April 1st and have a business meeting on 4/23 in which I will have to be a presenter, I just would like my hair to look nice..whatever that means?
